International Karma Yoga Day – 12 September, Worldwide
Looking for a way to make the world a better place?
Consider joining the International Karma Yoga Day movement. You do not have to give money to anyone. Choose what you want to make of the day and inspire yourself and your students. Help us start an international movement to help awake the general population to kindness, build recognition of the benefits of yoga, and bring students from all schools together conceptually for a day.
International Karma Yoga Day is meant to bring yogis of all kinds together around the world for one day, opening hearts and minds in the form of service of their choice. It costs nothing, and is open to anyone of any school. Yoga means union. Let us work for union by making this small effort to bring the yoga schools of the world together, recognizing our similarities instead of our differences. Let us work for union by shining a light into our homes and communities, taking yoga off the mat and bringing fun, kindness and assistance to our own home towns and also reaching our across the world.
Right now we are looking for people and studios willing to take the lead and coordinate either a major city wide event or an in-studio event. It does not HAVE to cost anything, so get off the mat and join us in reaching out to our communities as well as raising awareness about the benefits of kinds
The International Karma Yoga Day has the potential of touching millions, reminding us that the practice is not just a physical one, and making a real contribution to a better world. If you or someone you know would like to help organize or participate please contact the international program facilitator, Russ Hazard, at wanderingadept@gmail.com and he will put you in touch with others working in your region.
Make a pledge to do SOMETHING that resonates with you. Run a yoga class for free or by donation, volunteer with an organization, bring your community together for a cause, give a little money, or just give a hug.
We encourage and assist individuals, communities, and entire schools in making a positive impact. Feel free to develop your own projects for time and funding donations or you can contribute to our sponsored project for children which includes poverty alleviation, intercultural exchange, environmental awareness, peace studies and leadership training. If you would like to post a project to our events board, whether personal or school based, please write. We are also looking for regional directors to facilitate events worldwide. If you would like to get involved, do let us know. Let’s pour our love into the world. We will try to help people in similar regions link up whenever possible though multiple events are welcome.
